Umesh Yadav took three wickets as South Africa folded for 162 in the first innings with the bat in response to India's 497/9. With India having enforced the follow-on, South Africa floundered as they came in to bat again, with Mohammed Shami on fire. Umesh Yadav struck first, sending Quinton de Kock's off stump cartwheeling, but it was all Shami from there. The pacer first got Zubayr Hamza for a duck before dismissing South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis and Temba Bavuma. In South Africa's first innings, Ravindra Jadeja, Shami and debutant Shahbaz Nadeem shone along with Umesh as they picked up two wickets each.
